15 November 2005 Luxury travel tops wish list
Five-star luxury and guaranteed sunshine are top of British holiday makers' wish lists, according to a study conducted by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
Differences in male and female destination choices were not found to be apparent, as the survey found that both genders' top five wishes were the same.
Although important, culture, sport events and spa facilities were sidelined for a stunning beach and great cuisine.
Holidays in destinations closer to home are being shunned for more exotic far-flung places.
Claire Bentley, managing director of British Airways Holidays, commented on the rise in luxury travel and said: "The premium leisure market is the fastest growing in the travel industry at the moment.
"Holidaymakers now have more disposable income to spend on travel and they value the little leisure time they have so much they are prepared to pay for the very best service in five star hotels and exclusive resorts," she concluded.
