17 January 2008 Manchester is "best airport"
North-west hub Manchester Airport has been named as Best Airport in a recent awards ceremony.
The airport was given the Best Regional Airport accolade in the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards for 2008.
Manchester Airport received commendations from the judges for its handling of heightened security restrictions and commitment to customer service.
We are very pleased and proud to have been presented with this award especially as it is voted for by some of the most experienced industry professionals in the travel agents," commented Manchester Airport's managing director Andrew Cornish.
He added that the hub works hard to ensure passengers have the "very best possible experience".
Meanwhile, American Airlines was named Best International Airline in the awards.
