Britons are heading abroad for medical treatment in increasing numbers, it has been claimed.
Intuition Communication reports that Britons are heading abroad to countries such as Budapest for treatment as a result of the lower cost, high quality of work and lack of waiting lists.
Philip Archbold, head of sales at the company, said: "Medical tourism is an area experiencing massive growth. It's becoming acceptable.
"In the Baltic region the quality of dentistry is stunningly good. It is probably the leading area in the world for dentistry."
He added that he himself would be going to Budapest for dental treatment in 2007 to take advantage of the lower cost of treatment and the opportunity for a family holiday.
In October, the Royal Bank of Scotland reported that Hungary offered an improved exchange rate for those exchanging sterling, helping to make Budapest an "ideal long-weekend escape" destination for couples.
