Middle East 'catching Dubai tourist wave'
10 September 2007
While many people are choosing to holiday in the scorching luxury of Dubai, other Middle Eastern destinations are also becoming popular and catching the "tourist wave" in that part of the world, it has been suggested.
Writing in the Times, Annabelle Thorpe has compiled a list of seven Middle East locations recommended for travellers who are looking for the newest and best places to jet off to.
Egypt offers a mix of history and spectacle, Ms Thorpe claims, which make it a suitable destination for an exciting family holiday.
And if a cruise is more desirable, the upcoming launch of luxury boat Oberoi Zahra could be just the thing. Traversing the Nile, this liner offers 25 suites, which the writer says are comparable to "five-star hotel rooms".
Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates is also recommended, as is Persia, Jordan and the landscapes of Libya, in which travellers can enjoy tours taking them across rolling dunes and desert wilderness.
According to the OnlineWeather portal, temperatures in Dubai average approximately 36.5 degrees C (97.7 degrees F) in the month of July.
