19 November 2007 Mixed generational holidays 'popular'
Multi-generational travelling is a major new trend in the tourism sector, it has been revealed.
According to Travel Weekly, Cheryl Hudak, chief executive of the American Society of Travel Agents reported the news at the World Travel Market last week.
Ms Hudak noted that in particular the cruise holiday sector offered many opportunities for different ages of families to holiday together.
"This multi-generational travel is becoming really popular in the US. It used to be the case that people would go to visit granny and grandpa for a few days; now they are taking them away to share experiences," she commented.
Meanwhile, a recent study by Travel Nation revealed that the adventure holiday market is increasingly appealing to older travellers and families.
Matt Hodgson, manager of Travel Nation noted that more of the larger adventure companies are now offering family trips in their brochures.
