11 December 2007 Monster movie 'to lure tourists to Scotland'
It is hoped that a film made about the Loch Ness monster will attract tourists from the US to Scotland.
VisitScotland is to present a sneak preview of the movie, called The Water Horse - Legend of the Deep, in New York to launch a campaign to promote Scotland to overseas visitors.
While the Daily Record reports that the majority of the scenes were filmed in New Zealand some scenes were filmed in Loch Fyne in Argyll and Ardkinglas House.
"The Water Horse provides the perfect platform for us to promote Scotland as a land of mystery and legend," commented Ewan Colville, VisitScotland's marketing manager for North America.
The film premieres in the UK on February 1st 2008 and recounts the tale of a young boy who hatches an egg and releases the monster into Loch Ness.
The Loch Ness Monster is a legendary creature claimed to inhabit Scotland's Loch Ness and the monster even has a website devoted to theories of its existence and news on "sightings".
