27 September 2007 Mountain film festival in Banff
The rocky region of Banff in Canada is to host its 32nd annual Banff Mountain Film Festival this autumn.
Presented by National Geographic and New Balance, the picturesque region will come alive with tales and visuals of the extreme sport that is mountaineering.
In total 50 films are to be screened over the course of the festival - which lasts from October 27th until November 4th - selected from 300 competition entries.
Visitors are urged to "experience the adventure of climbing, mountain expeditions, remote cultures, and the worlds last great wild places, all brought to life on the big screen".
In a celebration of mountaineering and mountain culture, eminent speakers will tackle current mountain issues during free lunchtime seminars.
Meanwhile, the latest outdoor equipment and clothing will be displayed for the interest of climbers and ramblers.
Armchair mountaineers can enjoy being regaled by tales of adventure, while hardcore enthusiasts can have a go themselves on the climbing wall.
