30 November 2007 Murcia is "popular destination"
The Spanish city of Murcia is a "popular destination" for people travelling from the UK, it has been claimed.
Low-cost airline easyJet made the comment as it announced a new route between Murcia and the UK regional airport of Newcastle.
The new route will become operational from May 17th 2008 and will operate as a three times weekly service.
"Murcia has proven to be a popular destination from other easyJet bases in the UK and now independent travellers from the north-east can take advantage of this new service from our Newcastle base," commented David Osborne, easyJet UK general manager.
Mr Osborne added that the region was one of Spain's "most popular" cities and offered easy accessibility to coastal regions such as the Costa Dorada, which he described as "picturesque".
Murcia is popular with UK tourists thanks to its mild climate and minimal rainfall, while the surrounding coastline offers visitors 200 beaches to choose from.
