01 February 2008 Natural, paradise islands 'popular'
Honeymooners are keen on natural tropical islands for their post-nuptial sojourns, it has been revealed.
According to hitched.co.uk, while some newlyweds choose to engage in more active holidays, many couples still wish to enjoy a more traditional beach honeymoon.
Popular paradise islands include Bahamas, Barbados and the Virgin Islands, Francesca Moore, a spokesperson for hitched.co.uk commented.
"People are becoming a bit more open-minded," she said. "Some couples like to do the traditional style of honeymoon, relax on a deserted beach for two weeks."
However, Ms Moore also noted that some holidaymakers "travel in different ways", by renting camper vans and touring New Zealand, visiting the Great Wall of China and skiing in Canada.
Last year, St Lucia was voted the World's Leading Honeymoon Destination in the 2007 World Travel Awards.
