08 February 2008 New Mallorca flight route launched
The first ever flight between East Midlands Airport and Palma de Mallorca had been launched.
Announcing the inaugural flight, Penny Coates, managing director of East Midlands Airport commented that she was "delighted" with the commencement of the service, adding that she felt confident Palma would be a "popular destination".
She suggested that the region offers something for everyone.
"Palma is a favourite destination for families looking to explore the island of Mallorca, as well as a popular city break destination," David Osborne, easyJet UK General Manager, commented.
The thrice-weekly service will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays until April 12th 2008, from which point daily services will take place.
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and popular among families taking beach holidays.
In addition to golden beaches, the region offers many shopping opportunities and great beachside restaurants.
