10 December 2007 New York 'still top for shops'
Holidays to New York are still number one for Britons looking to engage in a spot of retail therapy over the Christmas period, it has been revealed.
According to British Airways, a survey of its passengers showed that New York was top of the list followed by Paris, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Miami, Delhi and Cape Town for festive getaways.
Travellers on British Airways flights this seasonal period will be able to enjoy dinners of turkey, mince pies and Christmas cake as well as entertainment in the form of inflight films Shrek 3, Transformers and the Simpsons Movie.
Over the busy festive time, Lin Glass, British Airways' general manager for South Africa, Mauritius and the Seychelles, recommends passengers check-in online or at a check-in kiosk to avoid queuing.
"It's much easier to get checked in before you get into the terminals either online or at one of the new remote check-in kiosks," the general manager noted.
The Association for British Travel Agents recently noted that New York becomes more popular for holidaymakers each Christmas.
