14 September 2007 New daily services to Tel Aviv planned from Heathrow
The second-largest airline at Heathrow has announce plans for a daily service from the airport to Tel Aviv, with flights due to start next spring.
Following bilateral governmental talks enabling the designation of a second airline on routes between London and the Israeli city, bmi plans to offer flights to Tel Aviv from Terminal 1, with passengers also able to make connections to other routes from the hub.
Nigel Turner, chief executive officer of bmi, said: "I congratulate both the UK and Israeli Governments in recognising the need to bring wider competition to air travel between the two countries."
He added that bmi will bring a strong reputation to this market, offering competitive fares to both business and tourist travellers taking a trip to Israel
In June 2007, Thomsonfly announced the launch of new services to Tel Aviv, with the firm becoming the first low-fares carrier to offer services to the city.
