18 September 2007 New flight destinations for the Algarve
Holidaymakers heading to the Algarve will soon be able to choose from more locations as Faro Airport looks to gain new flight destinations, it has been revealed.
According to the Portugal Resident, the Regiao de Turismo do Algarve (RTA) is looking to boost the regions popularity for 2008 to expand the destinations in conjunction with the Algarve's tourism association the Associacao de Turismo do Algarve.
New destinations that could help draw tourists to the region will include flights to Moscow and Paris while flights to Berlin could see an increase.
"We are working on several plans at once. We are going to see which flight destinations we can achieve and then focus our promotional material accordingly," Antonio Pina, president of the RTA, told the newspaper.
The plans are part of an extension to an overall tourism strategy which stretches as far as 2015.
The Algarve is a popular holiday destination for those looking to enjoy a beach holiday in the sun. It is also popular with golfers and is famous for its greens.
