Britons wanting an adventure holiday this winter may get some inspiration from a list of recommendations from a leading publisher of active travel guides.
Gordon's Guide has listed the Bahamas' Abaco Inn as one of the resorts it recommends for travellers.
Holidaymakers can engage in biking, fishing, ocean kayaking, surfing and other activities at the resort.
Other resorts favoured by Gordon's Guide include Togwotee Mountain Lodge, Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, Gunflint Lodge and Rancho La Puerta.
"Whether it's skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, surfing, yoga or just relaxing at the spa, there are adventure and active vacation providers that offer a variety of activities to suit travellers' interests this winter season," the company reports.
Earlier this year, AXA claimed that 200,000 travellers from the UK could be hurt by an injury or accident when on an activity holiday each year.
