10 January 2007 New pre-pay travel money card launched
Travellers heading abroad wanting a convenient alternative to cash and travellers cheques may want to make use of a newly launched travel money card.
Lloyds TSB has released its Travel Money Card, which can be pre loaded with £150-£3,000 in euros or US dollars, with the card itself costing £7.50.
Holidaymakers can top up the card overseas with a minimum of £50 by telephone.
Gerrard Schmid, transaction banking director at Lloyds TSB, said: "The Travel Money Card is the Future for foreign currency.
"Not only is it secure and easy to use, but it's also great for budgeting."
He added that if the Travel Money Card is reported to the bank as lost or stolen, funds can be transferred to a new card without the holder incurring any liabilities for losses.
Churchill reported this week that nine per cent of women have had their handbag stolen while on holiday.
