20 November 2007  One in ten travellers 'lose luggage'
A total of ten per cent of all UK adults have lost their luggage while travelling over the last two years, it has been reported.

According to InsureandGo, this situation is a "complete mess" and is causing holidaymakers to feel cautious about their possessions.

Furthermore, the study reveals that 31 per cent of travellers do not trust UK airport baggage handlers.

"Let's be honest, there have been baggage stories [in the press] since January this year. It's a complete mess," commented Perry Wilson, managing director of InsureandGo.

However, Mr Wilson added that "whether or not the airlines will do anything about the loss of baggage is a totally different matter".

In terms of how travellers can help to keep track of their luggage, Mr Wilson recommended not relying solely on baggage tags and also ensuring the baggage is highly visible.
