26 March 2008 Paris and Bruges 'are emerging destinations for city breaks'
Paris and Bruges have been named as emerging destinations for city breaks in 2008 by one commentator.
According to Post Office, Paris is set to be the number one destination for city break travel in 2008, while Barcelona, Dublin, Amsterdam, Prague, Rome and Bruges are close behind.
Post Office also notes that these emerging destinations for city breaks are replacing the traditional destinations of Vienna and Florence.
Helen Warburton, Post Office head of travel, said: "It's all about cost. It [is] much cheaper to go on two or more breaks during the year than to take a two week holiday."
She added that many cities are now in easier reach from the UK due to the emergence of low cost air carriers.
Other emerging destinations set to grow in popularity this year are listed as Krakow, Tallinn, Riga and Dubrovnik.
