04 March 2006 Passenger boom for Ryanair
Ryanair saw a rise of over 20 per cent in their passenger numbers for February, according to statistics released by the company.
A total of 2,592,133 flew with the company last month, up from 2,123,896 in the same month last year.
This brings the total flying with Ryanair in the past 12 months to over 34 million.
Demonstrating Brits' desire to escape the February blues, the company's planes were filled at an average rate of 83 per cent for the year ending February 28th.
The rise in popularity of using the internet for booking holidays and acquiring travel cover was also evident from a one percentage point growth in the number of people purchasing flights online from the previous year.
Passengers are advised to ensure that they are covered, as although budget airline flights are cheaper booked in advance, passengers could end up paying vast amounts for a flight on the day if they miss their original flight and have to buy a new one.
