05 February 2008 Proposal spending buoyed by special experiences and venues
In 2008, 1.8 million Brits intend on proposing to their partners, according to new research from one company.
Abbey reports that a study from cahoot reveals that out of this total, roughly 1.5 million of will spend a total £1.8 billion in making the proposal a perfect occasion - working out at an average of £1,218 per person.
As it is a leap year, 703,000 women intend on proposing themselves, cahoots reports.
Travelzoo recently reported that in a cosy log cabin is a romantic method of proposing to a partner.
"A massive 1.8 million singles are planning to make the most of the leap year by proposing to their partners. But proposals can be expensive, especially if you're splashing out on a special event to mark the occasion," commented Matthew Timms director of cahoot.
He added that the biggest cost of a marriage proposal is taking a loved one away to a special venue or paying for them to enjoy a "once in a lifetime experience".
