20 March 2008 Return of the traditional cycling holiday?
As green travel becomes a more pertinent issue in modern society, some individuals and families are moving away from long-haul flights and even air travel, in order to engage in more old fashioned holidays to traditional destinations, it has been reported.
Go Camping UK claims that families can enjoy summer cycling holidays in the traditional destination of the UK.
Ian Peet, director of the camping holiday operator added that such holidays cater to the whole family and cost "substantially less" than other cycling holidays.
"Camping is ideal for families; children explore, play and have fun with other children meaning parents have some time and peace to themselves. We hope it catches on," he added.
Europcamp recently reported that camping holidays in traditional destinations offer families the opportunity to "get back to nature".
Ruth Start, Eurocamp head of sales and marketing, also said that camping holidays are a "greener" option.
