04 November 2005 Security heightened in Delhi
After the bombings last week that killed 62 people in the Indian capital Delhi, heavy security has been put in place in anticipation of the Muslim festival of Eid this weekend.
Extra police have been deployed around mosques and shrines, with security being particularly tight in the Muslim-dominated old city, reports the BBC.
Last week's bombings affected the Hindu celebrations of Diwali on Tuesday, with the city experiencing a more subdued atmosphere than usual.
"The atmosphere has been marred by the bomb blasts, many people are scared to come out shopping," one shopkeeper told Reuters.
Although no arrests have yet been made for the bombings, several raids were reported to have been carried out in the town of Saharanpur in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
A Delhi police official told the Times of India newspaper: "Teams have been sent to several states, including Uttar Pradesh, and external links are also being looked into."
