17 September 2007 Ski season approaching
Fans of ski holidays will be relieved to know that the wait is nearly over, as the French resort of Tignes reveals that it will be opening its lifts at the end of the month.
From September 29th skiers will be able to enjoy speeding down 130 hectares of permanent ice and 20 kms of piste.
Meanwhile, Canada is preparing for an even bigger event - the annual TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival which is due to take place next in April 2008.
Last year the event saw free daily performances from rapper K'Naan, The Tokyo Police club, Colorado-based Zilla and Allison Crowe.
Next year's music and snowsports event is scheduled for April 11th-20th at Whistler Mountain ski resort.
Annual ski and snowboarding events at the festival include big air competitions, superpipe trials and a peak performer competition - won by Craig Beaulieu last year.
