05 February 2007 Skiers warned to check travel insurance on piste closure
Travellers fearful over the potential closure of pistes on their skiing holidays have been urged to check their level of cover before they head abroad to their destinations.
Holidaymakers concerned following a mild winter have been advised by Post Office to check the terms and conditions of their ski travel insurance before they make their way to the slopes.
It warns that some policies will only cover skiers if all pistes are shut for a minimum of 12 or 24 hours.
Kevin McAdam, head of travel at the company, commented that the skiing season had been the worst on record in terms of lack of snow, which can result in limited skiing time and increased injuries as a result of less-than-ideal conditions.
"Our advice is to make sure you know exactly what your cover offers before you go and, importantly, what evidence you need to have before you come home."
