19 October 2007 Spanish holidaymakers hit 25m
Since 2002, 25 million passengers have travelled to and from Spain with Ryanair, it has been announced.
According to Ryanair, its first Spanish route from Barcelona to Frankfurt was launched in the December of 2002.
In 2008 it expects this service to transport 11 million travellers via 174 routes from 18 different Spanish airports.
"A big thank you to the 25 million passengers who have made our Spanish flights such a success. In less than five years we have brought Europe's lowest fares to 18 airports, covering every region of Spain," commented chief executive officer of Ryanair Michael O'Leary.
The chief executive added that the region which has seen the biggest increase in passenger numbers is Catalonia - noting that nearly 13 million people travelled through the area.
Spain was recently voted number one in a Post Office list of most popular places visited by families over half term, according to U.TV.
