20 April 2007 Summer weather attracts winter travellers to Oz
Britons planning their Christmas holidays this spring have been advised to consider a trip to Australia to take advantage of the sunny weather down under.
NationalVisas reports that travellers from the UK and US are especially attracted to Australia from December to February, with many looking to take advantage of full beaches and other summer activities.
The company adds that there are also "liberating" opportunities for backpackers taking part in a working holiday visa scheme and businesspeople wanting a warm Christmas.
"To travel Australia in all its entirety is to witness nature's awesome and breathtaking display of colours, warmth, intensity and vibrance," it reports.
It adds that Australia is a country of extremes, with "scorching" sunshine followed by "velvety" rain, with holidaymakers advised to pack their suncream, sunglasses and a hat along with their accommodation plans.
The Australian Tourist Commission recommends a number of special events to travellers in the country in December, including the Pageant of Lights in Bundaberg and the annual Gerringdon Street Party and Parade.
