16 October 2007 Time is "running out" to book festive holiday
Would-be seasonal holidaymakers who have not yet booked their flights abroad are being warned to do so as soon as possible if they want to secure a bargain.
According to the Telegraph, there are three specific times of year during which there is a rush for the best deals on flights, in particular economy tickets for long-haul routes.
It reports that these periods are after the booking period opens at the beginning of the year, after Easter and in the first week of September.
"The travel industry always urges us to book early for Christmas for obvious reasons - it wants our business - but the warnings are not entirely based on greed: the good stuff really does get snapped up," the publication stated.
The Telegraph also reported that the next "surge" of bookings will happen in the first week of November.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, New York is a popular destination for Christmas breaks.
