28 January 2008 Tourism in 2008 "bodes well" for Turkey
This year looks set to be a good year in terms of tourism for Turkey, according to reports.
ShelterOffshore.com reports that holidaymakers heading to Turkey in 2008 may well be back to buy property in the region the following year, such is the region's draw.
The news comes after the Association of British Travel Agents reported that early bookings to Portugal and Turkey are doing "particularly well".
"Many tourists who visit a new destination and really fall in love with it also have a strong desire to spend more time there," Rhiannon Williamson, director of ShelterOffshore.com commented.
She added that current estimates suggest that 25 million visitors will arrive in Turkey in 2008, noting that this "bodes exceptionally well" for the country's property market.
Turkey is the fourth most popular package holiday destination for 2008, according to TravelMole.
Other top package holiday spots were listed as Spain, France and Greece.
