23 February 2006 Tours resume to Nepal following FCO advice
Travellers to Nepal have been advised to take extreme caution despite a relaxation in guidance from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
Although the FCO regards the situation in Nepal as remaining "tense and unpredictable" it is has decided to no longer advise against all but essential travel to the country.
The FCO has strongly recommended that travellers intent on visiting the country take out comprehensive insurance cover before travelling.
Although the situation has become less perilous, there is a possibility of further violence and disturbances, with blockades in Kathmandu and other regional centres planned from March 14th onwards.
As a result of the relaxation in advice, adventure tour operator Explore has decided to reinstate its tours to Nepal.
"We are confident that we can safely operate our tours and therefore intend to operate all Nepal tours as planned," a spokesman for Explore told TravelMole.
"Our passengers are very aware of the situation in Nepal but the majority are still keen to travel."
