19 March 2008 Traditional destinations to get snow this Easter
A number of European traditional destinations for ski holidays are set to benefit from snowfalls this weekend, it has been reported.
According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, much snow has fallen over the weekend in the Easter holiday destinations favoured by skiers of Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the French Alps.
Meanwhile, more snow is forecast for these traditional destinations later this week and over Easter weekend.
"Austria and France look to benefit the most on Friday, receiving between 25 and 50 cm in many resorts. Other resorts may only get five centimetres or so, it's hard to say exactly where, that's the difficulty with Alpine forecasts," commented Neil Bewley, a weather consultant at the Met Office.
Meanwhile, the Met Office recently predicted snow and gales in the UK over Easter weekend.
According to the Met Office, northern and eastern areas of the UK are likely to see blizzards over high ground at the weekend.
