Those looking around for the coolest holiday accommodation may find useful a list of the top ten 'hip hotels' in the world, based on input from travellers and an online travel community's own editors.
TripAdvisor ranks the Hotel Gansevoort in New York as the world's hippest hotel, noting its sleek architecture, location and roof garden with a pool that emanates music underwater.
Other places that made the list were the Sanderson in London, THEHotel in Las Vegas and the "down to earth" Hotel St. Paul in Montreal.
Michelle Perry, director of communications for TripAdvisor, said: "Before the rest of the world catches up, the in-crowd finds the up and coming star properties of the future and today's online grapevine is the best place to monitor the buzz."
TripAdvisor is an online travel information resource that provides reviews of over 220,000 hotels and attractions and also supplies advertising for accommodation and flights.
