22 May 2007 Travel insurance 'a necessity' for summer holidays
With spring finally in full swing, Britons looking to plan their summer holidays have been advised that travel insurance is an essential purchase before they head abroad.
Supermarket and financial services provider Tesco has taken the opportunity to announce a number of special deals on its travel insurance policies, while reporting that it is simple to purchase travel cover online.
Allan Burns, head of travel insurance at the firm, said: "Travel insurance might not be the most glamorous part of a trip but it's certainly a necessity."
He added that holidaymakers buying good-quality cover at an affordable price can benefit from peace of mind combined with increased funds to spend abroad.
Last year, Sainsbury's Bank reported that over 10.7 million Britons planned to book a last-minute summer holiday and urged these travellers to ensure that they do not pay over the odds for their foreign currency or travel insurance.
