12 March 2008 Travel traumas for Brits
Britons due to travel to Easter holiday destinations in the coming weeks will no doubt have a nervous eye on the weather as gusty winds sweep the country.
The Times reports that many short-haul flights to traditional destinations in Europe have been affected by the weather at London Heathrow Airport, with 22 cancellations reported.
Meanwhile, to the north of the UK, more problems are being reported at regional airports.
A total five flights have been cancelled at Birmingham International Airport, while many planes have been delayed.
Cancellations and delays have also been reported at Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports.
High-speed winds have caused bumpy landings for many passengers arriving into the UK.
However, those taking flights to Easter holiday destinations such as Spain from Liverpool and East Midlands have remained largely unaffected by the weather delays, it has been reported.
