Travellers to fly on despite airport delays

A recent survey by Travel Insurance Web confirms that customers in the UK are determined to keep flying in the current climate of enhanced security and possible delays.

Visitors to low cost travel insurance website, Travel Insurance Web, were asked if their confidence in air travel had been affected since the security alerts in August and the subsequent measures taken by the authorities. Close to 40% of those polled said they would continue to fly regardless of possible delays and heightened security.

Along side this apparent confidence, just over 20% of respondents claimed they were wary of delays and the same proportion felt that the fuss surrounding hand luggage restrictions had been exaggerated.

Hand luggage restrictions in UK airports have been relaxed since November 6; liquids can now be carried on - inside plastic bags, with size certain restrictions applying.

Graham Linney, Marketing Director of Travel Insurance Web: "Of our site visitors taking part in the survey, the largest number said they would continue to fly as normal. Whilst customers have been concerned, by and large they are still flying and buying travel insurance - especially as our policy includes cover for unexpected travel delays."
