27 August 2005 Travellers recognise importance of insurance
A new survey has revealed what British travellers make sure they never travel without travel insurance before they jet off overseas.
The American Express research shows a pleasing awareness of what is most important, with 87 per cent saying that travel insurance is a major priority.
This was second only to taking travellers' cheques or credit cards, with three-quarters of people making sure they did not forget books or a camera.
In addition, some 67 per cent of travellers would make sure they pack medication and 64 per cent would include a first aid kit in their luggage.
Joanne Field, marketing manager at American Express, said: "The real answers show that for most people travellers cheques, credit cards and a good insurance policy ensures they can survive any crisis be that delayed luggage, missing luggage or even something they have just forgotten."
