28 April 2006 Travellers should shop for better cover
With holidaymakers being increasingly aware of the risk of attacks on holiday resorts worldwide by extremists, tourists buying travel protection cover have been warned that they should be aware of what their policy covers.
Travel Insurance Web is advising travellers to shop around and ensure that their policy covers all possible eventualities.
Insurance manager Graham Linney commented: "What's worrying is that a lot of policies available in the UK won't provide cover for terrorist attacks, and we think it's important for travellers to be aware that cover may not always be comprehensive.
"Holiday makers should always check the details with their insurers and check any travel advice with the Foreign Office."
The Foreign Office advises travellers to take all of the common sense checks before they go abroad, ensure they have adequate insurance, to stay alert and make sure they watch the news and ensure they are fully informed of the situation in the country they are planning to visit.
If in doubt, travellers should contact the British Embassy or consulate of the country they are in.
