13 December 2006 Travellers urged to roll up for the mystery tour
Holidaymakers planning their trips next year attracted to an original taste of tequila may be interested in the launch of a new tour company in Mexico.
Visitors to the country have been recommended an "alternative hands on experience in the tequila valley" with the Tequila Magical Mystery Tour.
The tour takes in the Guachimontones pyramids in western Mexico, live entertainment, and a visit to the valley of Tequila, recently accredited with UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
"Perhaps more striking than the towering volcanoes surrounding the valley are the blue agave fields, from which the now world-renowned beverage of Tequila is made," the company reports.
The tour carries passengers on a 15-person passenger van from the second largest city in the country, Guadalajara, into to the volcano-lined valley.
During the summer, Norwich Union reported that visitors to Mexico reported the highest number of claims for sun-exposure.
Tourists in Mexico also reported the second-highest number of claims for lost belongings, with Norwich Union urging holidaymakers to make sure they take basic security measures when abroad.
