18 October 2007 Turkey is an "increasingly popular leisure destination"
As it continues its bid to be accepted into the EU, Turkey is becoming a more appealing holiday destination for tourists, it has been revealed.
Accordingly, new flights between Antalya in Turkey and Gatwick will be launched by British Airways next summer to reflect this increased popularity.
From April 10th 2008, three weekly flights will commence from London's Gatwick Airport to Antalya, to cater for the additional tourists wishing to visit Turkey as part of their holiday.
"Antalya is in south-west Turkey and is an increasingly popular leisure destination with new tourism facilities being developed," commented Robert Boyle, British Airways' commercial director.
He also noted that daily flights to Poznan would also be launched as leisure travel between the UK and Poland grows.
Along with Ankara, Istanbul and Mugla, Antalya is one of a number of tourism development regions in Turkey.
