06 November 2007 Turkey plans new tourism campaign
Tourism officials in Turkey are planning a new promotional campaign that will aim to attract more visitors to the country, according to reports.
Despite already being among the world's most popular tourist destinations, Turkey will be promoted heavily on television stations in a number of countries.
Turkey's ministry of culture and tourism Ertugrul Gunay insisted recently that it will play a proactive role in ensuring that tourists coming to the country are giving a warm welcome and are able to enjoy their stay, reports Todays Zaman news service.
"Those who come to Turkey will return to their home countries as envoys of Turkey," Mr Gunay said.
"If they are impressed by their shopping here, by conversations with Turks during shopping, by the way they are served in restaurants and by the cleanliness, they will definitely speak about their satisfaction to their family and friends," he added.
Meanwhile, a number of events are scheduled to get underway in Turkey over the next few months, including the Whirling Dervishes Festival on December 10th and the Saint Nicholas Festival on December 6th.
