17 December 2007 'Two separate markets' in air travel
There are two separate markets available for passengers when it comes to air travel, it has been reported.
According to James Fremantle, industry affairs manager for the Air Transport Users Council, there is a market for those who want no-frills travel at low cost and those who want a little more luxury on flights.
While "many" passengers choose airlines which offer the best price foremost, choice is an important aspect he said.
"There are two really separate markets; you've got the people that are price-led and you've got the people who want a bit more value and are prepared to pay a bit more. Choice is the best thing ... we want a bit of both," Mr Fremantle added.
The Air Transport Users Council is the consumer council in the UK for air travellers.
In other travel news, according to responsibletravel.com destinations that have traditionally been viewed as "dangerous" in Central and Southern America are set to increase in popularity in 2008.
