17 December 2007  Winter mountain destinations 'should perform well' in 2008
Next year, winter mountain destinations such as Switzerland and Italy are likely to perform well, it has been reported.

According to lastminute.com, interest in booking holidays for 2008 is likely to rise in January.

A spokesperson for the company reported that carbon offsetting will also be important for travellers in 2008.

"We have a carbon offsetting scheme - carbonwise- which we launched a year ago. The scheme has been very successful so far with 15 per cent of our customers choose to offset their flights when booking with us," she added.

Last year, roughly 17.2 million UK residents travelled overseas, according to research from the Office for National Statistics.

Travel Weekly recently reported new destinations in Poland and Latvia will become popular in the new year.
