26 March 2008 Women 'confident' to travel alone
Women have become more confident to travel to traditional and emerging destinations on their own, it has been reported.
According to responsibletravel.com, a large number of solo female travellers are now joining small group adventure trips.
The comment comes after TravelMole reported that figures from responsibletravel.com show that women are "leading the way with green holidays".
According to the company, 67 per cent of holidays in 2007 were booked by women.
"Women have become more confident to travel alone and this is great to see. Solo travel can be incredibly rewarding," commented Kristina Pentland, communications manager for responsibletravel.com.
According to Ms Pentland, individual travellers are much more approachable than those in groups making it more likely that they will meet companions with similar interests while on their travels.
