11 May 2007 Yahoo travel site to offer personalised trip recommendations
Yahoo Travel has announced the launch of a new module aimed at providing travellers with personalised holiday recommendations, with the goal of making the site the top online resource for holidaymakers.
The firm reports that 79 per cent of travellers have not yet completed their plans for the summer holidays and it hopes that new additions to its site will provide an invaluable resource for those still undecided.
Jasper Malcolmson, director of Yahoo Travel, said: "We want to fundamentally transform the way people plan and research their trips and our trip recommendations are designed to inspire people with new ideas of where to go and the best price for getting there."
He added that information from other users would be used by the system to offer enhanced options for planning unforgettable journeys anywhere in the world.
In April 2006, Yahoo announced the public launch of its FareChase site that aims to help consumers find the best prices for their trips while gleaning useful information from other travellers.
