25 October 2007  Young people advised to be safe on the slopes
Youngsters are being targeted in a new campaign called Safe Snow, it has been revealed.

The campaign focuses on young skiers and snowboarders under the age of 25 – after research revealed that one in five claims for snow-sport related injuries was made by this age group.

Among those spearheading the campaign is the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

"Ski slopes are in the top five locations abroad where British holidaymakers get injured," commented Mike Monk, ABTA's head of financial services.

Meanwhile, Go Travel Insurance's Christian Young advised youngsters to avoid leaving their equipment unattended outside cafes or bars – noting that it is a lot of hassle trying to replace stolen equipment.

ABTA represents more than 5,500 travel agencies and 900 tour operations in the UK.
