British adults are to spend £7.6 billion on entertaining children this summer, which encompasses the cost of food and tickets.
New research suggests parents spend £590 on average on keeping their kids entertained over the summer holidays.
Sainsbury's Bank, which provided the data, states £44.90 is spent on pocket money, with £142 spent on travel costs.
Gail Bailie, a spokesperson for Sainsbury's Bank, commented: "It's so easy to underestimate how expensive it is to look after a child.
"Considering the cost of the summer holidays alone is staggering."
Richard Mason from Moneysupermarket recently commented to the Manchester Evening News on the measures people can take to cut down on their travel costs.
