30 October 2007 easyJet increases flights from Belfast
easyJet has announced it is to increase the number of services running out of Belfast International Airport to 23.
Four new destinations will be launched this week, including the Polish city of Gdansk as well as the better-known destinations of Prague, Venice and Barcelona.
The carrier expects to fly some 140,000 passengers on the four new routes over the coming 12 months and in order to accommodate the increased demand it has added a six aircraft to its Belfast-based fleet.
David Osborne, easyJet UK general manager, said: "Increasing the number of easyJet routes from Belfast International to 23 further cements our commitment to the region and its people.
"We have been in Northern Ireland for nine years and we intend to keep expanding for many years to come."
The managing director of Belfast International Airport, John Doran, also welcomed the expansion, saying it delivered "new and refreshing destinations to the people of the region".
The latest additions are part of a UK-wide expansion of services which have also focused on opening up routes to Austria, Bulgaria and Madeira.
